Anime Fair 2008

One of the largest anime events in the world, the 2008 “Tokyo International Anime Fair,” is coming soon ? the seventh such event to date and a spectacle destined to be more interesting, more enthralling and more interactive than ever before.

The 2007 event attracted a whopping 100,000 visitors so come along to Tokyo Big Sight from March 27 (Thur) through the 30 (Sun) to help shatter that figure.

More than 200 anime related companies and organizations including production companies, TV and film agencies, toy and game software companies as well as publishers in Japan and from overseas are slated to participate in the fair with the latest information of the anime.

To add a splash of color, staff wearing costumes of a given booth’s anime heroes and heroines will gladly pose for photographs with fans. Pop along to the booth of your favorite animation productions and collect the information of their new products.

On the event special stage, live performances and talk shows for anime fans and families hosted by popular voice actors are always crowd pullers, as seen in past events. This year’s “Voice Tamatebako 2 (Treasure Box 2) (tbd)” promises to be no exception. This portion of the event is co-hosted by the Tokyo International Anime Fair and Japan Actors Union and will see Koichi Yamadera, Minami Takayama and a number of other renowned voice actors appear live on stage.

In the special theater, films given the Anime Award prizes and topical “Flash” anime products are screened. (on Public Days only ? see below)

Eight coming groups/individuals will be showing their wares in the aptly named “Creators World.” The special exhibition of manga and anime museums all over Japan is a must-see.

Prize wise, the “Tokyo Anime Award” ceremony will bestow upon at least one new talent a level of recognition and prestige previously only dreamt of with the goal of supporting anime related businesses overall. (The award ceremony is an invitation-only event.)

Be there, don’t miss it and take away memories that will stay with you for years - the 2008 Tokyo International Anime Fair.
